After coming out of beta last week, Nokia‘s augmented reality app, Nokia City Lens, is due for another update with plenty of new features.

The upcoming Windows Phone 8 version of the app, which will work on Nokia’s Lumia 920 and 820 smartphones, is set to debut 3D icons, as well as the option of filtering search results to only show those in your line of sight.

Some WP8-specific features will also be added to the app, including the ability to pin to start any category, and to customize the menu by adding your favorite searches.

Perhaps most importantly, the app will work in both landscape and portrait modes.

Nokia has yet to comment on the exact release date of its newest version of City Lens.

The Secret of Viral Videos, in One Hilarious Parody

The-secret-of-viral-videos-in-one-hilarious-parody-e3ff87a741

We know, it’s a little meta, a viral video about viral videos. But how could we resist, when this parody encapsulates all we’ve ever wanted to know about making a video an online sensation.

“Buyral” seems to have tapped into the future of viral and is working to make viewers themselves obsolete — as long as it gets the clicks.

And Buyral looks like it has the edge in viral innovation, not only enlisting the elderly, but even the youngest of tots to be click engineers. And don’t forget those “clickterns,” making it possible for videos to explode, all without the messy job of getting real people to watch them.

This company even seems to have figured out that anyone can make a video go viral — it takes no skill, just outsourcing and an algorithm. And a lot of laptops and mice.

But we’re lucky someone has figured out the anatomy of a viral video. If not, then how would Mashable even have its Watercooler?

And don’t forget, with all that clicking — you gotta stretch.

Have you ever made a viral video? Tell us about it in the comments below.

The 2012 U.S. presidential election, fittingly dubbed the first meme election by some people, came to end this week when Americans re-elected Barack Obama.

While his victory messages went viral across Facebook and Twitter, other candid moments and political parodies caught people’s attention on the web (watch the video).

Never ones to stray away from attention, cats also clawed their way into the spotlight, as did Angry Birds.
